When trying to install Kaltura in a directory Alias set in the httpd.conf, the install fails at the end with the Failed to register error.
Once directory was moved to within the DocumentRoot and the Alias was removed, the install worked fine.
CentOS 5.3 64bit

I know that Kaltura's online video editor widget offers a robust set of features in an intuitive and easy to use interface. Our flexible editors allow publishers to add editing and remixing capabilities matching the level of complexity and interaction they need.

I am seeing what might be a similar issue - the install completes and writes to DB, but then fails with no error messages. I am not installing via a directory alias; my DocumentRoot is set to the root of the Kaltura install. I suspect this is a more general bug that incorrectly alters the site root during installation.
Are you certain that this bug is only reproducible when installing to an Apache2 Alias installation for you?
Post-install, I see this -
Kaltura Community Edition Server Installation Failed
Local Registration failed
Error Code:
Error Message:
IMPORTANT!
This information was sent to your email, assuming your mail server was set up and operational on this server.
The email is received, and does not contain any error message either ...
The final page "continue" link points me to http:/ /example.com/home/www-home/kalturaCE_1.5/index.php?JustInstalled (note that the absolute path of the Kaltura install has been inserted into the URL here). Sorry, had to munge the URL to get past the spam filter ... makes it a bit hard to report URL related issues :D
The install.php file references $server_host at this point, but there are lots of
global $server_hostin the installer, so the location of the exact issue is not obvious.--

Aha. "Local registration failed" just means "your email is already registered on Kaltura.com". That's not really a major (and I don't think it should block the install completing).
