When I go to upload content I don't see the option to record by webcam, do I need to install the separate project for this to work?

from that guide do you refer to this part : Q: Why isn't my KCW webcam working? / I have a streaming server (Red5/FMS/Wowza) installed, and I would like to enable recording from the KCW - what should I do ?

Because I have installed KalturaCE also and a fresh drupal build with the Kaltura module and .. webcam doesn't appear when creating a media node ....

I hope I don't need a streaming server to acquire that ... Do I?

using the webcam feature requires that you run a flash streaming server of some sort. the most common flash streaming server is FMS (flash media server) by Adobe that indeed costs quite a bit. HOWEVER there is an open source alternative to that server called Red5 http://osflash.org/red5 . The webcam component can work seamlessly against a Red5 server - guaranteed.

BTW I'm going to use this gorgeous-blond-avatar trick in other forums I write in.. I bet it's a proven way of getting a quick response from geeks worldwide!
