After working on hundreds of productions in both Australia and internationally, he went back to school studying Film & Television at University. Michael is also in to the Metavid project - an archive of congressional proceedings which indexes house and senate footage via close captions and OCR on nameplates. Metavid makes all this data and audio/video files available in their entirety with entirely free and open source software. In the last few months Michael has been working on re-building Metavid as an extension to the MediaWiki platform and combining it with Kaltura's technology to create a collaborative video solution for MediaWiki that is fully based on Free and Open Source technologies.

Ivan Vergés

Ivan is a GNU/Linux user/administrator and PHP & JavaScript programmer. He's highly enthusiastic about open source and works as a programmer for web sites and projects in the open source network.

Ivan is also the main developer of the Kaltura Plugin for Elgg. A few months back Ivan and his colleague Aram López Roca were developing a social site based on Elgg, and needed to integrate video into the project. One of the most important requirements was to create collaborative online TV. The Kaltura stack, which included some great collaborative features, and also the ability to tweak the functionality, exactly fit the need. A Kaltura plugin for WordPress was already out there, but there wasn't one for Elgg - so Ivan set out to create it based on Kaltura's technology. The next step is working with the community to fix bugs and add more features.
