extending kae functionality

I've written two, specialized video processing scripts in Python using numpy. I would like to use them in KAE, but I'm not sure how to go about doing that. Is this possible? Could you give me an overview of the steps involved? I'm new to Kaltura, and I'm planning on using the Python extension of Kaltura with either django or maybe a Python-based CMS to create a simple site featuring a video editor with some special and unusual video processing features.
