How do I create video tuturials?

Greetings friends!

I am a Kaltura neophyte and am looking to create screen recorded video tutorials of a software application for which I provide customer support. What do I need to do? I have a server from which the videos can be hosted. I need to know, though, how this can best be done using Kaltura tools. Thanks very much for your assistance.

Are you looking to create those tutorials with sub titles or with voice recording?

Ideally the tutorials would be screen captured recordings with voice and screen graphics/text (such as those one finds in recent youtube videos), as necessary. If that isn't possible, then voice would suffice.

Thanks.

Are you a Mac or PC user? Either way there is ample screen recording software out there.

If you're on a Mac, then I recommend Snapz Pro.

Once you've recorded your "episode" you could then upload to Kaltura and depending on your web platform you can embed the content into your site.

If you don't already have a website content management system in place, then maybe have a play around with Wordpress and the Kaltura plug-ins.

Hi,

I would use camstudio.org's software for recording screen capture's. It's another great open source project. Make sure to add the lossless avi codec. ;)

Then either upload that to your Kaltura but it will be a hefty file or go further by using a local editor to perfect the video and convert to flv perhaps. I did use a open source one but i cannot remember the name of it to save my life. I remember it being yellow.... :)

Hope this is of help,

Guy
