html 5 video player not playing in IE 8

I have just installed the video player on a sample page and can it to work everywhere but IE. I keep getting error messages. It eventually loaded the poster image and acted like it was loading the video but then just displays the image again. I have also had similar results when I tried using the Dreamweaver plugin version.
