Whenever the installation is ran if sphinx is already on the users system the installation crashes when it tries running the process "Running the sphinx search deamon".

Jeff - can you detail a bit more?
Did you run on a machine that had a pre-installed sphinx? Or did you install Kaltura twice?
What specifically is failing? did you get any error messages?

I would love to post an error log or message, however, it just died on me?!... Yes, Kaltura was installed on the system, it was 'removed', and this is what happened when it was being installed again. The install script just stopped when it reached "Running the sphinx search deamon".
Sorry I can't be more specific :(
