This is to check the demand and interest of the community in this tool.
At the moment we use a proprietary codec for the video encoding, I'd like to know if there's a demand for such a tool and release the program code for interested contributors to add support for open source codecs.
SWF Flattening server is a Windows based server application that can run multiple instances of SWF players, capturing the playback of the SWF and creating a video. It used internally to convert mixs (aka roughcut, that are in-fact a run-time parsed sequences) to video files.
We very much need our students to be able to download their mixes, as they will be including those mixes as part of their online portfolios and would need to take their videos with them after they leave our institution and no longer have access to our servers.
Very interesting. I'm waiting for so long. I hope that will be released soon
This is a much needed service!
(x.264 support?)
Can't wait for it to be released!
Very interesting and should be a must need.
Any updates on this?
Flattening files for transcoding to other formats, especially for mobile use beyond html5, is critical.
Thanks!
Any update on when this package is coming out?
Any update on the flattening server? I see it's in there on the new CE server but is it functional? I see from your post you're talking about a windows based application. I can't see how that'd work with a CE on a linux platform.
Hi,
It seems that the flattening server is not coming our way from Kaltura.
I know it is "against" the open source concept but, perhaps someone has a way to pay some guys to create basic flattening server that will take videos created within the Kaltura server and turn them into a standard format movie. Everyone that needs this will purchase the code/product for part of the development cost and make the adjustments they need.
I think that the essence should be to enable Kaltura open source product to integrate the product into their offering. Even if it is not be able to work in real-time (since the process is very CPU intensive), I think it is a good option.
Anyone?
Lior
You shouldn't have any doubts about if we need it or not. Surely we need, we'd love to have more support and to have an opportunity to ask a question if you don't know anything. I've heard from the interview with Ron Yekutiel http://www.tubestime.com/watch/ceo-conversations-ron-yekutiel-kaltura-s-... that now Kaltura is the leading online video platform. I guess this proves that this is just what people need.
Hi,
I am wondering if there is any documentation/procedure on creating a flatten server. Please kindly advise. Thanks.
Stephen
Hell yeah! This is something I'm personally really interested in...
