General
Kaltura CE V3 is based on the Cassiopeia release of the Kaltura online video platform. It provides new features, infrastructure enhancements, and new API services.
Supported/Tested OS
Kaltura CE has been tested on the following operating systems:
- Ubunto 10.04 - 32-bit/64-bit
- CentOS 5.5 – 32-bit/64-bit
Please note that it is possible to install Kaltura CE on other Linux distributions as well, however it was not yet fully tested by Kaltura

- Full Support of any VAST ad server in player (Player Advertising tab in KMC studio)

- KMC password security enhancements
- Mobile support (transcoding flavors)
- Net Storage - enabling auto-export to and delivery from a remote storage.
- Sphinx - full text search engine (bundled within the Kaltura CE package)- All entries and playlists searches moved to sphinx search engine
- Automatic code generation tool available at the Developers Test Console in the Kaltura Admin Console application

- Analytics – user geo-distribution analytics – requires ip2location DB license
- Live streaming workflow – requires CDN/FMS integration for live channel provisioning and for live streaming (already integrated with Akamai's live channel provisioning).
- Webcam recording – requires FMS integration – instructions to be provided.
- Access control – geo restriction - requires ip2location DB license for maintainable ip2location DB (current mapping relies on the IP to country database from http://software77.net/geo-ip

Known issues
- Kaltura CE should run as a Virtual Host under Apache2
- Kaltura does not provide a complete migration path from older versions of the Kaltura CE (v1.5) to the current one
- The links within the KMC to Kaltura contact pages are pointing to the KMC hosted by Kaltura at www.kaltura.com and not to the local Kaltura CE
- Instructions on how to migrate from Kaltura CE 2.0.x to Kaltura CE 3.0.0 are not yet provided.
