KalturaCe 1.5 Linux_64 on Ubuntu 8.04 no convert?

I've tried .avi and .wmv files without success. They just say converting then goes to error. I can upload Images just fine. I cannot upload Audio either as it will not convert.
Here is my https log. Pretty sure everything else that is required is setup correctly. Any ideas why it won't convert?

The above errors are from a single uploaded .avi file about 5Mb in size. Yes, it plays fine in windows media player as an .avi movie on my desktop.
As you can see from the attachment the .avi file isn't even getting past the conversion stage. I just don't understand the log as well as I'd like. What would cause ther error in (kalturaCE/kaltura/alpha/apps/kaltura/lib/myContentStorage.class.php on line 278)?
I've tried fresh installs and the pre-installation checklist always checks out with good validation of my server setting.
Is there documentation about the linux_64 distro where maybe I'm missing a configuration or something?
That is all the information I have to offer up right now.

Hello,
i got similar problem on our Debian machine. Sometimes the video files want convert. On the second attempt the convert of the same video file works fine. Any suggestions?
If the convert doesn't work I can found this error messages in the apache error log:

I checked the paths "/server/domain/web/content/uploads/11282655194.5_file3B899247-975B-890E-893F-A43613E3BFDE.mov" and "/server/domain/web//content/new_preconvert/x69hk8zd14.mov". The "*.mov" files are not available.

How many files are we talking about? Do they play from your machine?
