Hi all,

This is very exciting - thank you Kaltura for such a generous contribution to the open source community!

I have an installation issue on Debian Lenny. I've satisfied all the dependencies (as far as I know) and get the following error after completing the final step of the install.

Kaltura Community Edition Server Installed Successfully

Local Registration failed
Error Code:
Error Message: Array ( [0] => failed to serialize server result )

IMPORTANT!

    * This information was sent to your email, assuming your mail server was set up and operational on this server.
    * If your mail server is not set up, save this information now! you will not be able ro recover it later.

Then, on trying to view (for example) the UGC site, I get the error: "Default partner with ID "1" was not found!"

On trying to view the administration console, when logging in I get the error: "The data you entered is invalid", though I'm sure I am entering the correct credentials.

Can anybody please help with these issues?

Errata notes from the install:
* you cannot finish setup on Safari 3 because of a javascript bug checking the admin username - it insists the field isn't filled in. It works fine on Firefox.
* do not enter a database password that has '#'s in it, it breaks kaltura's yaml syntax because it isn't escaped properly.

Cheers,
Dan

I repeated the installation process from scratch (because I thought my previous DB errors may have thrown everything off) and have a new error when I try to log in to KMC:

"The data you entered is invalid".

Again, I'm sure it's the login credentials I entered earlier.

Any insight you can give on the cause of the problem would be much appreciated.

I just noticed the issue that's probably causing my problem. It's documented here: http://www.kaltura.org/project/issues/418

If you're running a virtual host setup in Apache, then you need to edit $KALTURA_HOME/install/install.php line 560 and replace 127.0.0.1 with your desired host name.

The installation has now worked, and I'm about to try out Kaltura for the first time. Cool!

Cheers,
