When a couple of videos (in this example we were using a 300mb test video) are added to the time line our memory usage spikes and our CPU usage goes to the max. are the videos being loaded directly into memory? Attached is a screen shot of the editor with four video's loaded and a stat's report from the windows task manager.

Hi Jeff,
The video editor is utilizing Adobe Flash.
Unfortunately at the moment, Flash doesn't provide a way to load/unload the video from local disk, and the processing is always being done on the CPU (not utilizing GPU). That makes the video editor not usable for videos that length, I recommend using a desktop based editing software for that length. A good integration would be to allow the users to download/upload directly from Kaltura into desktop editing software like Premiere, Avid or something simpler like iMovie or Movie Maker.
