A Proper use for the Remix Node?

Hello. I am working on Kaltura with Drupal but I think my question is more general for Kaltura. If there is a better place to direct this question, please let me know.

I am working on a film festival - a 100-Second Film Festival. I am seeking to create a website where people can view all the videos of the past years of the festival (about 125), submit new videos to the festival (via the Kaltura CCK field) and also to create playlists of 100-Second videos. Creating a bundle of 10 videos around a theme, an idea, a geographic location or just a personal preference.

Currently I have a defined Content Type in Drupal with a Kaltura Media Node as a CCK Field.

Will the Remix node work with this Content type?

Does the Remix work with media already embedded on your site (as Kaltura media nodes)

Thanks for any suggestions I am a little overwhelmed.
