in the KAE Audio tab, when clicking Record, I am presented with a Flash dialog box asking for permission to access my microphone. Usually I also have to select a different source than what is default. If I take too long to select all my settings in the Flash settings box, the Record Voiceover box gives me an error "We could not detect a recoding device....etc." i.e. it doesn't wait for me to finish picking, it just waits a predetermined time and then gives me an error. This is especially problematic because once I get that error, no matter what I do within that session (changing Flash settings, etc.) I can never get the KAE to re-detect my microphone. So, I have to set the Flash settings the way I want them, click "Remember these settings", and then close KAE and re-open it, at which point the recorder works fine.
Unfortunately, I teach workshops in a computer lab setting, where each user has his own system settings, and so every time someone uses Kaltura they encounter this problem. We use different audio sources all the time, so we can't really set a reliable default anyway.
Eessentially what I need the KAE to do is not timeout with an error, and instead recognize that I'm working on my Flash settings and wait for me to finish. At the very least, this timeout should be more like 2 minutes as opposed to the 30 seconds or so it is now.
