Hello,

Could it be possible to set Kaltura to get files from a Wowza streaming server ?
I've just installed Kaltura on my dedicated server. This one also runs a WMS.
I wish I could use both together ...

Does Kaltura player support live streams ?

Thank you.

As what I know Kaltura is using progressive download to play the videos. I couldn't find the way to play videos by streaming.
If Kaltura does, that will be great.
Thanks.

I m am exploring other solutions. The documentation on installing of a streaming server like wowza to work with kaltura is insufficient.
Numerous requests by a lot of users have been made to document on how to setup a streaming server like wowza with kaltura without any response from the kaltura guys.

Thank you guys.

Using an external streaming server is a must have.
We can set a CDN url in settings so I guess it could be possible one day.

I'm sure it could be easy :
1/ move transcoded files to WMS content folder,
2/ change progressive download URL to RTMP.

Question is : does Kaltura player support RTMP streams ??

Kaltura team, any reaction ?

for anyone interested in RTMP streaming, please take a look at this guide:
http://www.kaltura.org/using-rtmp-streaming
It explains how to configure RTMP for both KDP and JW player with Kaltura.

It looks like it is using Kaltura streaming server. Is there any way to stream from my own streaming server?

I've just set up my own kalturaCE server and am looking to be able to stream from it but it appears to be defaulting to progressive download only. I have looked at the sample page referred to above and as millsC said the example is from kaltura.com I've tried replacing the obvious entries for my server but nothing. If this is all that the community edition of the server does then there doesn't seem much point as you can do progressive download without a server. It's the streaming capabilities that are valuable here and what I really need to have.

Can anyone (Core Team or anyone who has succeeded in this) advise - in a simple example i.e. {your_server_details_here} kind of way what to do to achieve this. Are there additions needed to my server or am I just plainly stupid and missing something obvious?

The KalturaCE server is bursting with promise, especially with integration to Joomla (that didn't work either - only works with a Kaltura account - not my own server but it said it does) and Moodle (not tried that yet). I also like the synchronising of slides to the video in Moodle - excellent and exactly what I am looking to do but yet to try it! There a a number of other UI issues that make it cumbersome to use but, as I said...it's full of promise and if you can get these things sorted this will be an absolute winner!

Please do reply...soon!
