My current installation kaltura.module,v 1.2.2.5 2009/01/14 does not include YouTube video as a source in the "Upload Wizard".

Is there a way that I can enable this provider?

Hi,

Not at the moment, unfortunately. This feature was taken off.

I posted an inquiry about the disappearance of the YouTube option on May 29th on Drupal.org (http://drupal.org/node/477120). No one from Kaltura responded. Might I suggest that you change the module page there to remove references to YouTube and someone answer my inquiry, for the benefit of other users.

Whatever the reason(s) behind this, it is unfortunate and even more that nothing has been said about this publicly so far as I know.

You have a great product here and I hope the issues with YouTube can be resolved.

Thanks for posting it. Where do you see Youtube reference there?

You are correct that YouTube is not mentioned on the Drupal module page. However, the issue I posted and referenced is still active.

You are right; We are focusing on this site for our community, and therefore are more attentive here - this is the best place to get in touch with us.

Hope to see you around!

If abuse was the cause of the removal, wouldn't a better solution be to allow YouTube as a source but only for posts to our own web sites (the only way you can do it in Drupal so far as I know) and block it only for posts to the Kaltura site? I am, after all, responsible for what is posted to sites I administer.

I can't even link to YouTube for videos that I have rights to or my own videos from the Drupal module for Kaltura...

Hi,

It's not that simple as you might be responsible to what you post on your site, but can't be reponsible to other users who might link to the video or share it. We are considering some solutions to this issue though.

Glad to hear you are working on possible solutions! I will look forward to the outcome of that work.

There are ways, with Flash, to reduce the linking risks but in the end, I don't want to stop people linking to my sites or content. Those who abuse or steal must be dealt with in other ways.

It's been 11 months and I was wondering if there has been any progress on this issue?

During the past few months many of the 3rd party content providers have made significant changes to their APIs, thus technically blocking the possibility to integrate with platforms such as Kaltura.

Our management team has been in contact with executives at YouTube and other providers for the past several weeks, however we regret to say that at this time we have not been able to obtain any commitment from these providers to support this functionality.

Therefore, we were forced to remove the YouTube and other similar tabs from our Contribution Wizard. Our team is continuously attempting to reach a better solution to this issue and should any such solution become available we will happily restore the tabs as appropriate.

How is the situation? do i have to install the Kaltura Contributor Wizard (KCW) to add this feature? (anyway the installation of kcw looks strange!)
