Hi Kaltura Gurus,

I have just tried to upload some FLV files using the KMC. I used the following settings within the KMC:

Video Transcoding Settings: Excellent Web Quality FLV
Remixing Quality: Checked
Aspect Ratio: Keep Original
Keep original transcoding to FLV: Ticked

I used the following setting to compress the footage using Adobe Media Encoder CS4:

Multiplexing: FLV
Codec: On2 VP6
Resize Video: 853x480
Frame Rate: 25fps
Bitrate Encoding: VBR
Encoding Pass: Two
Bitrate: 1000kbps
Min Bitrate: 80
Max Bitrate: 120
Bitrate Variability: 80
Quality: Best
Audio: None

Everything appeared to work fine during the uploading process. However, the video does not play in the KMC.

In the Entries section of the KMC the video's thumbnail is just a faint Kaltura flower. When I try and preview the video nothing plays.

Here is the embed code of the player:

<object name="kaltura_player" id="kaltura_player" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowScriptAccess="always" allowNetworking="all" allowFullScreen="true" height="332" width="400" data="http://www.kaltura.com/index.php/kwidget/wid/_12431/uiconf_id/48110/entry_id/22ribrkmvo"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always" /><param name="allowNetworking" value="all" /><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /><param name="bgcolor" value="#000000" /><param name="movie" value="http://www.kaltura.com/index.php/kwidget/wid/_12431/uiconf_id/48110/entry_id/22ribrkmvo"/><param name="flashVars" value=""/><param name="wmode" value="opaque"/><a href="http://corp.kaltura.com">video platform</a><a href="http://corp.kaltura.com/technology/video_management">video management</a><a href="http://corp.kaltura.com/solutions/overview">video solutions</a><a href="http://corp.kaltura.com/technology/video_player">free video player</a></object>

Any idea what's going on?

Thanks!

Has anyone actually got the "Keep original transcoding to FLV" option in the KMC to actually work?

I'm having no problems uploading content to Kaltura and letting them to the transcoding, but if I compress it locally and tick the "keep original" option, then it doesn't seem to work.

Any ideas?

Not sure why, but it seems like there are some FLV files that Kaltura likes, and others that it doesn't.

These settings seem to work fine in terms of using the "Keep Original Transcoding" option:

FLV On2 VP6, 640x360, 25fps, VBR, 2 Pass, 400kbps, 15 key frame distance, Best Quality

I'll do some more testing and let you know what the cause is...

Best Regards, Chris!
