Usage Details

Hi Kaltura,

I've just had a proper look at my usage details on the KMC. To be perfectly honest, I have no idea how the numbers are calculated.

According to the usage page:

If you add up all the items on the graph then that works out about right. My calculations come to 530MB - which is very close to 7.62GB subtract 7.1GB (2.48MB off). So the bandwidth calculations seem right.

But the storage calculations seem way off. Adding up the entries listed in the KMC, I only have 493.5MB worth of FLV files currently stored on the Kaltura Network. I did all the FLV encoding locally - so I can calculate this figure very easily.

So... I'm presuming this is because "nothing ever gets deleted off Kaltura". As per a discussion I had on the old community forum, apparently if you delete something off the KMC it doesn't actually get deleted off the server. Is stays there until someone from Kaltura manually deletes it. Is this actually the case? If it is, are these "deleted" but still existing files calculated in the usage?

If so, then it seems a little bit unfair - especially seeing as though according to the sign up page:

If someone could clarify how the storage usage is calculated then that would be fantastic...
