In reading this thread it looks like you can't create additional accounts on the KalturaCE server. This makes it hard for us to use it.
We run KalturaCE for several small school districts who use Drupal for their web sites. They each want to add student videos to their sites. For each Drupal site, we have to have an individual instance of KalturaCE running on our server so that each school district can have a unique partner ID. Without multiple accounts, one school would be able to delete another school's videos. We can't have multiple Drupal sites pointed at the same KalturaCE server as there is only one notification URL allowed.
So what do we do? We have 8 instances of KalturaCE running on a big server with 24 gigs of ram and this seems a bit ridiculous. In some ways it feels like cripple-ware but perhaps I'm just not understanding how to correctly deploy KalturaCE. Isn't there a way to have multiple users and partners on one instance of KalturaCE?
Can someone help us out?
Thanks,
;-) Paul
I agree with you. Back when I looked into this - and I cannot dig up the link right now - a dev posted a link to the user API if I remember correctly. It was code that was all greek to me. Hopefully someone will come along and do a better job of finding the page that I am doing.
Paul:
I'm just now drilling down this forum, and I had a thought about your problem. I'm thinking that you're wanting multiple accounts to a management console for the purpose of adding videos. I am still struggling with some functionality issues with our install, but as I understand it, you should be able to drop a video addition window into any web page. We intend to use our system within Moodle using the beta plugin modules, and with the "Resources" module, a course instructor has full access to the video addition routine from with his/her course as one of the pull-downs available to add resources -- they can upload and display a video delivered from the KalturaCE install without even seeing the MC. In addition, the plug-in provides an "Acitivites" module which allows students to upload and submit videos as assignments. I'm thinking one should only need access to the MC to approve uploaded videos (the Moodle plugin seems to bypass that), check for problems, and other systems work. One login should be sufficient for that.
Again, I haven't actually gotten my one KalturaCE instance to work properly (see my other posting for that), but the Moodle interfaces all work. I see elsewhere in this discussion that there's a Drupal plugin which should do this stuff too. Did you try it?
